Vicki Cummings

Our beloved mother, Vicki Ischar Cummings, entered into God's Kingdom and became fully restored on November 10, 2023 after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's. Vicki was the oldest child born to Eugene (Gene) and Betty Hudgens Ischar on December 9, 1951 in Ballinger, Texas. Vicki began her amazing journey as a follower of Christ as a young child. Her family was actively involved in the Christadelphian Church in San Angelo, Texas where she made lifelong friends. As an adult, she was a member of First Christian Church in San Angelo, Texas. Vicki grew up in Ballinger, Texas. She was a lifelong Bearcat and even as her memories faded she never forgot Ballinger or the Bearcats, often speaking of the football games and the band. "Go Big Red!" She graduated from Ballinger High School in 1970. She went on to attend business school in Abilene, Texas. She married the love of her life, Ricki Lynn Cummings on May 12, 1973. As a couple they lived in Winters, Abilene, and Sunray, Texas. Their final move was to San Angelo in 1977. For 40 years, this is where she worked and raised her family. In 1984, her life took an unexpected turn. With her faith in Jesus and the support of her family she began an almost 30 year career in the abstract/title business. She began working at Poulter Abstract & Title Company where she became not only a greatly valued employee but was blessed to be part of the family atmosphere until they were bought out. In 1993, she became a founding employee as an Escrow Officer with Guaranty Abstract & Title Company until her retirement in 2003. Committing her life to Jesus Christ was her greatest accomplishment, but a close second was the joy she had in raising her two daughters, Wendi Gail and Kimberli Ann. In 2004, her motherly love grew beyond measure when she became G-Mo to Ryan James, followed by Zachary Cole in 2008, and Kambri Lynn in 2015. Vicki was greeted in Heaven by her father, Gene Ischar, her lifelong love, Ricki Cummings, her grandparents Thelbert and Eron Payne Hudgens and Eugene Adolph and Cassie Vernon Clayton Ischar. Those left here to celebrate her life on Earth are her daughters and their families, Brad, Wendi, Ryan, & Zachary Wanoreck and Bryan, Kimberli, & Kambri Burrows. She is also survived by her mother Betty Ischar, her siblings Melvin & Sharon Ischar, Clay & Janet Ischar, and Laura & Sam Mallory, and her nephews Courtney Ischar, Mathew Ischar, Jacob Mallory, Cody Ischar, and her only niece, Hannah Mallory. She is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. Under the direction of Winters Funeral Home, graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Lakeview Cemetery in Winters, Texas officiated by JT Tucker. Her family will be available for visiting and reminiscing on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the home of her brother and sister in law, Melvin & Sharon Ischar, 1807 Poplar, Ballinger, Texas. The family would like to thank Keller Oaks Healthcare Center and Custom Care Hospice for the tenderness and sensitivity you showed our mother as she navigated through the stages of Alzheimer's and at the end of her life. This is something we will never forget. Thank you for the comfort you gave her, as well as the wonderful insights, knowledge, and emotional support you showed our entire family.
