Felix Ramirez Cortez, Sr., 94, of Winters passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. Felix was born May 11, 1927 in Corpus Christi to Reece and Clara Cortez. He grew up in San Angelo, later moving to Ballinger where he met and married Edna Rios in 1951. They moved to Winters to raise their family, and he still currently resided in Winters. He was a janitor at Winters State Bank for a number of years, and also worked at the Ballinger Co-Op and for an air conditioner factory. He enjoyed watching westerns, including John Wayne and Bonanza. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Cortez and sons Sammy Cortez and Milton Cortez. He is survived by children: Betty Martinez and husband Junior of Winters, Felix Cortez, Jr. of Winters, Danny Cortez of Winters, and Eddie Cortez of Knox City; sister Tillie Cortez of Fort Worth; 15 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Winters Funeral Home.
