Gregorio Tamez was born on November 8, 1944 in Runge, TX. Greg was 77 years old and was born to Isabel Lopez and Jesus Tamez. Greg passed on February 18, 2022. Greg married Maria Elva Martinez on February 20, 1964 who was the woman of his dreams. Greg had 5 children, 2 girls and 3 boys. They are Yolanda Correll, Edmund Tamez, Mondo Tamez, Greg Tamez, Jr., and Isabel Tamez. Greg was blessed with 14 grandchildren: Chris Soto, Joshua Soto, AJ Tamez, Christina Tamez, Hector Reyna, EJ Hendrick, Julia Tamez, Edmelinda Tamez, Anthony Martinez, Sarah Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, Jonathan Tamez, Anthony Ortiz, and Edmund Ortiz. Greg also has 15 great-grandchildren. Greg is also survived by 3 sisters and 4 brothers: Mary Mendez, Mary Tamez, Jessica Tamez, Peno Tamez, Juan Tamez, Frankie Martinez, and Willie Tamez. Greg was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Juanita Martinez and Lupita Martinez. Greg and Maria, along with Yolanda and Mando, moved from Runge to Wingate in 1970 and went to work at the Turkey Ranch. In 1981, the family moved to Winters and Greg was working for Alderman Cave Company until he retired in 1994. After retirement, Greg like to mow grass and watch old westerns on the TV. Greg lived a full life and enjoyed spending time with the family and going to church. The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022 at Winters Funeral Home for a prayer service and visitation. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Lighthouse Community Church. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
