In Memory of Jimmy Alton Taylor, January 1946 – June 19, 2020 Jimmy passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on June 19, 2020. Jimmy was born in Goosecreek, Texas to Jim and Melvis Taylor. He joined the National Guard at the age of 17 and received his GED while serving his country. He enlisted in the Army in 1964 and served two tours in Vietnam. He completed his service for the 1st Calvary Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and was part of the elite 21 force during the Baltimore Riots in 1968. Jimmy met and married the love of his life on December 3, 1965. Jimmy and Lillie celebrated 43 years of marriage and had 5 children. Lillie preceded Jimmy in death in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents Jim and Melvis, sister Katherine Morris, and son Jimmy Alton Taylor II. He is survived by his children: Laura Bowden and husband Gene, Melissa Drake and husband Randy, Linn Havlak and husband Mike, Bobby Taylor and wife Karen, and Chrissy Kraatz and husband Keith; grandchildren: Mark Bowden and wife Meagan, Shawn Kraatz and fiancé April, Amy Kraatz, Krista Price and husband Sims, Tiffany Rankin and husband Derek, Brandon Taylor, Ashley Havlak and Zach, Nikolas Kraatz, Lukas Kraatz, Kara Fulbright and husband Denver, and Taylor Drake; great-grandchildren: Mason, Brantley, Audrey, Adalee, Carter, Briggs, Axton, Karliah , Brycen, and Keslie; siblings: Roger Taylor and Cynthia, Keith Taylor, Ramona Taylor and Kathy, and C.H. Taylor; as well as many more children that they opened their hearts and home to. Anyone who knew Jimmy knows that he always had a smile on his face. He was a hard worker and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Jimmy and Lillie moved to Winters with their 5 children and made Winters their home. Jimmy worked in the oilfield and dirt construction and in his 60s opened his own dirt construction company, Taylor Construction, and operated until his retirement in 2016. He will be missed by many and he loved his family and cherished his grandchildren. The family would like to thank Hospice of Hendrick. And a very special thank you to Kim Dooley for her care and support. Visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Winters Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 at Lakeview Cemetery.
